Way too many people will talk about working out, as if it is something very special to do. But when you really think about it, everybody who is capable of moving is doing a workout of some sort. If you squat down to pick up something, you are doing someone else’s hardcore workout. The problem is, if you just do the same things every day, you are going to merely condition yourself to do nothing beyond what is comfortable to you. And being comfortable is not the same thing as being fit, as any athlete can tell you.
Simply put, you have got to actually work out beyond your comfort zone. It is not a matter of that you “should” do something about this thing. You just need to do it, even if “it” is only a few minutes of decent exertion. For some people, doing a single pushup and a single squat is enough to get their muscles pumped (and sore), and to fatigue themselves pretty well. After all, we are not all super athletes. But nonetheless, whether your goal is to look like Arnold, or just to live a long and healthy life, you have got to work out.
Maybe you find it a little bit difficult to get motivated. Have you ever considered that maybe, if you made it a little bit easier for yourself to do your workouts, you would be more likely to actually do them? Schedule going to a fitness class, so that you will be accountable to someone else. Get a workout buddy, so that you will “have” to go in order to avoid disappointing them. If all else fails, you just need to get out there now.
